Bedtime routines are an important part of what we do here at SleepWell Baby.  The bedtime routine provides a cue to your child that sleep is just around the corner.  When we consistently carry out the same routine, each and every night, our children develop a sense of confidence about going sleep.

If you find your toddler is having a difficult time following the steps or staying focused during the bedtime routine, you may want to try using a bedtime sticker chart.  Sticker charts are helpful because they break down the steps of the routine while giving your little one an important job to do.  After completing each step of the routine your toddler has the responsibility of placing a sticker in the corresponding box.

Call a family meeting to talk about the chart and spend some time together colouring the pictures.  As you work through the bedtime routine your toddler will place stickers, stamps, marks or initials in the boxes as each step is completed.
